What Is Your Dream Wedding?
By
George Meszaros
Now that you are
engaged it is time for you and your fiancée to
sit down and discuss what kind of wedding you two envision.
Just
because you love each other, it doesn't mean that you agree
on
what kind of wedding would be your dream wedding.
If you have always dreamed of being the princess walking
down
the aisle treated like royalty, a traditional wedding is for
you. But, if your fiancée wants to get married scuba diving
instead, you two have a lot to talk about. Even though you
two
may not agree, you have to keep discussing your options.
Many
grooms don't want to be bothered with wedding planning
because
they are not heard. If you want your fiancée to get involve,
treat him like an equal and the help and feedback you
receive
may surprise you.
Whatever your decision may be you two have to feel good
about
it. Your wedding should be personalized to your desires. You
two have to communicate clearly and openly about what is
your
dream wedding and why. You two have a common goal that is to
get married, how you get there is your decision. Make a list
of
ideas that are important for you and see how you can
incorporate
them into your wedding day. Before you start working on the
details, you should individually write down the most
important
ideas to make sure neither one of you is pressured into
omitting anything important.
Throughout history, many of the decisions about the details
of
the wedding were up to the parents. Today, while parents are
usually part of the process, they are not decision makers.
If
you want your parents to pay for your wedding, you are going
to
have to give them a lot more decision-making power than if
you
and your fiancée are paying for everything.
Once you get married you will become a team, so it makes
sense
to work as team planning your wedding. There are good and
dysfunctional teams; you have the power to become an
effective
team. Regardless, the size or style of your wedding, you and
your fiancée has to work together. The more effective you
work
together, the more fun you will have planning your big day.
